What has been happening at Kamberg Valley Hideaway?

Since our last blog post, we have not been sitting back and relaxing (well apart from when England were beating Australia and South Africa were beating Ireland in the Rugby!)

Bryan finished our beautiful sign and that is now standing proudly on the Highmoor Road showing the way to Kamberg Valley Hideaway! I know I might be a little bit biased, but I think it looks fabulous!
I have been trying my hand at a spot of gardening and since this is something that I have never been very good at (I have even managed to kill a cactus in the past!), I am pretty chuffed with what I have done so far, let's just see whether the plants survive long enough to grow strong and colourful in the Spring!
Ezweni Construction are back! Our fabulous builders are back working on a couple of units for our future staff! They have again been working like Trojans and in one week have dug the foundations, concreted and bricked the foundations and now compacted the soil. Tomorrow they will lay the concrete slab and on Monday they are going to start building the walls. It is all very exciting and actually really interesting to see how the process of a ground up build works!
We'll keep you updated on the progress of this build and any fun stuff we get up to (like our trip to Kamberg Nature Reserve - next blog) and we look forward to some of you visiting us here in this beautiful and unspoilt area of the Drakensberg!

Now it's time for us to hibernate - very cold weekend coming up, apparently!

More exciting developments at Kamberg Valley Hideaway!

It has been a while since I have written a blog update, but that is simply because I have been away so haven't had the chance to fill you all in on our latest developments, and there have been quite a few, thanks to Bryan!

Whilst I was swanning around the UK visiting family and friends, Bryan has been slogging away working on lots of different projects. What I came back to, was fantastic! I can't believe how much he achieved! What an absolute star he is!

Firstly he has put a new gate in so that our guests now have access to the rest of the property, right opposite their accommodation. Bryan didn't, however, just put the gate up though, he also made a gravel pathway, marked by stones! It looks fabulous!

Bryan then cut a walking path down to the Little Mooi River. This means that there is now a clear and obvious path that runs from the dam all the way to our river frontage. This is almost a km long, so you can imagine how long it took and how much work it was to cut a path all the way. It is a great job done as now our guests can enjoy a leisurely stroll to the river without wondering which way to go!

Once our guests reach the Little Mooi River, they can now also stroll along the river bank and enjoy a river walk.

Our River Walk stretches the length of our river frontage, which is about 300m and I have to say, it is a stunning walk with lots of different beautiful views of the river and the mountains from differing heights.

There are also lots of quiet, private spots to relax and enjoy the sounds of nature and the river bubbling along.

Before now there was no gate through the fence which blocked the river bank off from our property, the area was overgrown with lots of brambles, and even if you made it through the brambles, there were hundreds of wattle trees blocking the view! We didn't even really know what our river frontage looked like. Now, thanks to Bryan's hard work, here are some of the views you can enjoy.

So, as I'm sure you agree, Bryan has uncovered a stunning gem that has added a new dimension to Kamberg Valley Hideaway!

We knew the river was there, but we didn't know how beautiful our river frontage was. It is the perfect spot to wander down to, with your book and a picnic and while away a few hours! I for one am very tempted!
